Nigerian Tribune reports that the All Progressives Congress’ chairman in a preliminary objection to the suit filed by Bishop Osadolor Ochei said the plaintiff lacked legal right to institute the action. READ ALSO: Breaking: INEC announces details of resumption of election in Rivers state Terhemba Gbashima who filed the objection on behalf of the former governor “told the court that the suit filed by the plaintiff is status-barred, as it was filed18 months after the cause of action instead of three months after it.” He also submitted that Bishop Osadolor has not shown how the alleged cause of action has affected him more than other indigenes of Edo state and asked the court to dismiss the suit for being incompetent. In her response, counsel to the plaintiff, Uju Chukwurah, asked the trial Judge, Justice Anwuli Chikere to “discountenance the preliminary objection of Oshiomhole, who is the second respondent in the suit.” She said the EFCC is empowered to investigate financial crimes against anybody and as such, it is under a statutory duty to examine the petition brought before it by the petitioner. Meanwhile, Ibrahim Magu, the chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Wednesday, December 5, revealed that it has recovered not less than N794 billion from looters of the nation’s treasury. Magu represented by EFCC's head of operations, Usman Muktar, in Port Harcourt, Rivers state capital said that over $261 million, 8.1 millions euros and 1.1 million Pounds had been recovered from corrupt Nigerians, The Sun reports.
