Yousif Abdalla Garang, the police commissioner in Jonglei told Radio Tamazuj that the incident occurred on Saturday night when a South Sudan People’s Defense Forces (SSPDF) soldier opened fire at young men who were involved in a fight, killing one while another sustained gunshot wounds. Abdalla said the incident took place at Bor’s Referendum neighborhood. “There was a brawl among some men at 7 PM. The officer, a bodyguard to an army general in the neighborhood, then shot at those at the scene. We do not know what prompted him to shoot,” Abdalla explained.
